Our insipiration wall, a vibrant and colorful mural, is inspired by the powerful quote "We rise by lifting others" by Robert Ingersoll.Through this piece, we seek to illustrate the beauty and strength of community, and the transformative power of compassion and kindness. In our mural, we see people from all walks of life coming together to lend a hand and help each other. From a young child helping an elderly person cross the street, to neighbors working together to clean up their community, to strangers offering a helping hand to those in need, each image embodies the spirit of generosity and mutual support that lies at the heart of the quote.Through our use of color and composition, we aim to convey the joy and energy that comes from working together and lifting each other up. The bright, bold hues of the mural symbolize the vitality and resilience of the human spirit, while the overlapping figures and images create a sense of interconnectedness and unity. At its core, our mural is a celebration of the human capacity for kindness and empathy. By illustrating people coming together to help one another, we hope to
inspire viewers to do the same in their own lives, and to recognize the transformative power of even the smallest acts of kindness.
In this way, our artwork serves as a reminder that we truly do rise by lifting others, and that by working together and supporting one another, we can create a world that is more compassionate, more just, and more beautiful.

Living in the age of technology, it is known that the innovator leads the community, as the process goes, you create or improve a product, others do the same, as if it was a domino. In a team with a leader and a follower, each individual has their own purpose, showcasing their different ideas, and delivering their duties. It enables us to express the uniqueness and strengths of our different ideas or creations. Being different is usually associated with being peculiar, instead being different is having the capacity to think outside the norm, and having the ability to lead the change rather than being a bandwagon. This mural gives recognition to all the people who study and work hard to take part in change, or to innovate creations that contribute to make work more efficient and functional. Furthermore, to create a better space wherein hard work is recognized and efforts are appreciated. To sum it all up, being a person who innovates is able to think of a solution instead of seeing it as a problem or a threat, is able to see opportunities instead of the uncertainties. That equates, being a person who innovates takes initiative to lead. Giving regards to each other’s ideas and following or encouraging one another to embrace difference and uniqueness. To innovate is to lead, and leading takes innovation.

The creation of this mural has been a deeply personal journey for me, as it has allowed me to grapple with some of the most difficult questions and challenges in my life. The loss of my mother has left me questioning my beliefs and morals, and this project has given me a chance to explore those issues in a creative and meaningful way.The words of James 1:5, "if any of you needs wisdom ask God who gives generously to all," have taken on a special resonance for me during this time. They remind me of the importance of seeking guidance and understanding as I navigate the complex emotions and uncertainties of grief. The symbolism of the mural is also deeply significant. The stack of books represents the many things we seek to learn and understand in our lives, from the mundane to the profound. The butterfly perched atop those books is a symbol of hope and transformation, a reminder that by reaching out to God for knowledge and insight, we can undergo a metamorphosis that leads to greater beauty and understanding. As I stand before this mural, I am struck by the way in which it captures both the struggles and the beauty of life. It is a reminder that even in the darkest moments, there is hope and possibility, and that by seeking wisdom and guidance from a higher power, we can find our way forward. I am grateful for the opportunity to have created this artwork, and for the insights and growth it has brought me along the way.

The theme we chose to do for our mural is similar to the theme’s exhibit. Both similarly focus on mental health and learning to come to terms that being vulnerable to emotions is fine. While drafting, Keith Haring’s mural art played as the main inspiration for the simplistic design and connection of mental health themes. As some of his works contain his beliefs towards how people should act as themselves and not worry about what others may think about it. We wanted to showcase a true overcoming approach, the blue border surrounding the person in the middle is meant to symbolize the unnamed struggles that people could face in their lives, hence the organic and jagged shapes. The orange within the person is meant to represent the hope that’s inside of everyone, showing that they are ready to accept and acknowledge the problems hurled at them no matter how grave.Although overcoming struggles and staying strong by having a positive mental attitude towards life is a remarkable outlook to have as an individual, it is also important to mention that people do have their limits in the problems that they receive in life. It is understandable that it could be overwhelming which is why there is no shame in showing vulnerability or asking for help from trusted people. By learning to do that, acceptance and self-awareness could be the most powerful tool people could ever have. Even if it does come a long way for one to possess it.

Being unique means embracing and celebrating your individuality and not necessarily being the one and only. The use of primary colors in this art is to be loud, to be out there, to be authentically you. Red symbolizes courage, Yellow symbolizes confidence, and Blue symbolizes inspiration.Sometimes we struggle with ourselves, where we see other people and think "I want to be them" or “I wish I was them” but you don't have to be the smartest one, the best dressed, or the most athletic because what matters is you are someone who is kind, optimistic and knows right from wrong. This is for all the kids, teens, adults, and elders who feel small and insignificant. We are just like the stars in the sky, at a distance we look just the same but we shine in our own way. Do not ever let that light in you burn away. You are beautiful, dazzling, and bright.Be proud and loud because you are you.Manifest the good in everybody by being good yourself.

I chose to put this quote into mural because as an educator, I personally believe that this is my calling: to help my students discover their gifts and use their full potential. Seeing their progress no matter how fast or slow, putting their learnings into practice, and later on achieving and excelling on their own is a joy and reward any teachers would ever want.
